Max & his girls

Meet three of Max’s favorite people, who just so happen to be the daughters of three of my favorite people too. These four have been in the same preschool class for the past two years, and Max has had a serious crush on each one of these girls (and even wanted to marry one!) at one point or another. We both feel very fortunate to know you ladies, and honestly, can’t imagine starting kindergarten without you right there with us. Ugg, I can’t think about that just yet…

Hmmmm….wonder who his current favorite is…

Man, that boy needed a haircut. I think we did that the very next day! 😉

workshop mania, part 4

I have a couple more posts to go from my time at the Pinkle Toes Photography workshop (some fun behind the scenes photos of all the photogs!), but this is the last of the models that I worked with on our “shooting day.” And I use the word “model” loosely, as all the people we photographed that day were real people, not professionals. But seriously, this beautiful high school senior could rock the camera and could *easily* be a professional model. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see her beautiful face in a magazine someday. We only spent about 15 minutes together, but even in that short time, I could certainly tell that she is every bit as beautiful inside as she is out.

where the wildflowers are

Or perhaps more appropriate in our case, where the “wild things” (a.k.a. Reynolds children) are. About once every six months, I try to carve out some time to take my own two kiddos out on a photo session of our own. Without fail, these photo sessions never go the way I have planned them in my head. I always envision for us what I hope all my sessions are — capturing family connections, stages, chemistry, love in a relaxed and beautiful way. I imagine all the things I want to document that are unique to where we are now — the sweet love that is between them, the mischievous yet endearing twinkle in Max’s eye, the baby chub Madeleine still sports that I know won’t be there this time next year, their wild imaginations, the curiosity and wonder with which they approach the world. But they are so on to me by now and generally resist all well laid plans of their mother!

I have to admit that I was a bit frustrated as we left the beautiful field we drove about 40 minutes outside of town to find. We were not the only family there that day taking the obligatory bluebonnet pics, and as all the other children were oh so nicely smiling for their parent’s cameras, there were my two crazies running about imagining there were ghosts coming to get them in the field of flowers (hence the exaggerated screams from Madeleine). Really….ghosts in wildflower fields….what on earth will they come up with next?!? But as I sat down to edit a few of these, I realized that I accomplished exactly what I set out to — capturing my two little wonders exactly how they are…crazy, wonderful and unique. I love absolutely *everything* about these two.

Bet you can’t guess which one I ordered in a huge 20×30 for my dining room wall!

workshop mania, part 2

Meet Miss. A., six and a half and full of fun and energy. We played pretend, explored and just had a lot of fun together. And by the end of our time, she was telling me what we should try next! I absolutely love photographing children this age. They are old enough to follow some instruction but still so childlike and innocent. I had a fantastic time hanging out with you Miss. A. Wish we lived closer so we could do it again!

Family Life

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go from a family of three to a family of six in just a little over a year?!? Well, ask the Ds, and I bet they would tell you that it’s very busy, a bit hectic at times, but totally wonderful and very much worth it! Ds, I was so touched by your story and how God has blessed your family so richly in such a short time. Thank you for inviting me into your home to capture you just as you are right now. I love these pictures of your family life and hope they will keep these precious moments alive for you in the years to come!

And don’t worry Mom, the shots of just the babies we worked so hard for turned out great!

Spring is here!

I am so glad that Spring is here! Yes, since we’re in Texas, it means we are sweating already, but I’m so thankful for the warmer weather, beautiful green grass and blooming flowers everywhere! And I love how the H Family wore fun bright Spring colors for our session. You guys looked great! And I have to tell you that this first picture is perhaps one of my all time favorites. Oh how it makes my heart smile — you can just feel how much these sweet brothers love each other (and how smallest H does not want to be left out ;))!

urban family. natural family.

The D family wanted to mix things up a bit at our session on Saturday, so we visited my favorite urban area of Dallas and then ventured over to a beautiful field that has special meaning to their family. The Ds were married just around the corner from this field, and they love to cycle around the lake. These are also among my absolute favorite places to photograph, so I was happy to oblige. I LOVE all the variety in textures and colors we captured, and I can honestly say that I’m not sure which setting I prefer on you, Ds! But one thing is for certain — you are a beautiful, loving, connected family wherever you are!

new albums!

I am so excited to unveil the new album option I am adding to the 2011 Lauren Reynolds Photography product lineup. I picked up the one I designed for some of our family pictures just yesterday, and I have been itching to show it to you. I am so in love with it. The quality of the construction and thickness of the pages is unsurpassed, and the cover is heaven to touch. There are many cover materials to choose from — you don’t have to go with one as bold as the “red viper” that I chose. And that cameo on the front — it’s printed on metal, how cool is that?!

They are so sturdy that I didn’t mind a bit when my 4-year-old and 2-year-old wanted to sit down together to flip the pages!

A boot-scootin’ birthday

Miss. C is five, and boy did she and her friends have fun celebrating Texas style at the McKinney, Texas Storybook Ranch! There was bouncing, sliding, horseback riding, a pinata, delicious cake, and my personal favorite, the Pettin’ Zoo. Just be careful, though, if you are lucky enough to visit this particular Pettin’ Zoo, not to wear your camera bag around the goats. They can get slightly aggressive when they mistakenly take it for a feed sack!

Happy 5th birthday Miss. C! Thank you for trusting me to capture your special celebration!
