It’s the little things that are making our summer special. He’s just going off to Kindergarten, not college, not a boarding school. But I’m trying to savor every moment with both of them this summer, because for our family, this summer marks the end of one stage and the beginning of the next. I’m excited about all that lays ahead of us, but I know that as we enter “big boy school” and all the activities and to and fro that will naturally accompany that, we will inevitably have less time for just hanging out…for doing things like drawing pictures on the sidewalk and hugging in the sunshine….just ‘cuz we felt like it.
I’m not even sure if there is such a term, but if there is, this sweet family would certainly be close to qualifying! They welcomed their set of boy/girl twins just slightly over a year after their second child was born. Yes, you did the math right, three babies under the age of 13 months…whew! But they didn’t focus on all the diapers, bottles, routines. They were so excited to be a family of six, and I was touched by their incredible story and strong faith. Their joy was real, and they were authentically thankful.
Being with this family on this day was such a great reminder to me. A reminder to not let the mundane details of daily life get in the way of being truly grateful for my blessings. Thank you, D family, for not only inviting me into your home but for sharing your story and hearts with me!
is to have energy. I think that’s a fairly universal fact. And I know in our family’s experience, to be boy is to have a. lot. of. energy. In a very wonderful, love-to-be-alive, contagious kind of way, but I’m really not sure if I could keep up with three. This family of all boys, however, makes it look like a piece of cake and oh so much fun. And their boys? Well, they not only have a healthy dose of that fun-to-be-around boy energy, but they are also caring, loving and sweet. Their love for each other this evening was simply palatable.
H’s you are raising some great boys, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you this next go around…boy or maybe girl! 😉
We saw the most amazing fireworks display this year. It was truly spectacular. But before all the glitz and sparkle began, we watched a poignant short film on the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made for our country. I was so moved by it (literally teared up on the lawn in the dark!) and was thankful for the reminder of all that has and continues to be sacrificed so that we can enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted. I hope that as my two grow, they learn to appreciate this great country we are so fortunate to call our own!
this session! Be prepared for picture overload, because I really did love this one. It was just one of those nights where everything was right. We had beautiful weather, a beautiful sunset and a beautiful family that shared a very beautiful love. We started our time together in a fun urban spot in Dallas where we captured color, texture and a touch of funk.
Then we headed over to a very special place in Dallas for this young mom and dad. They were married just a stone’s throw from this field and are avid cyclists who can often be found cycling around the lake. It was obvious from the first moment that we arrived that it will inevitably become a special place for little Miss. E as well. She was so at home in the midst of the (often rough!) prairie grass. We got such a kick out of watching her run her hands over the grass and smile. She was definitely in her element and will surely grow to love being in nature as much as her parents!
And this beautiful mamma is also a *very* talented artist. You can see some of her amazing paintings here. I am so flattered that they chose me to capture their family on film. Ds, you are a beautiful family with beautiful love wherever you are!
This is one motivated, talented (and flexible!) lady. She just so happens to be a good friend of mine who mentioned just a little over a year ago (yes, only a year) that she was starting to really enjoy yoga. Well, fast forward to today, and she is a certified yoga instructor who teaches at some of the most prestigious gyms across Dallas. She is incredibly talented, and when she told me that she needed some headshots and yoga pictures, I was so excited to help her document her accomplishments. We headed over to my favorite place in Dallas to watch the sunset and she practiced her craft while I practiced mine. Seriously can’t think of a better way to spend an evening with a friend, thanks A!
Miss. C is five, and boy did she have fun celebrating with her friends, Texas style! There was a petting zoo, horseback riding, jump houses with crazy fun slides, a My Little Pony pinata and plenty of all out birthday fun!
And it would be a shame if I didn’t show you the album her mamma chose to preserve their memories. It is absolutely gorgeous. I was so excited when I picked it up, and I can’t say that I didn’t drool over it a few times before I delivered it to its rightful owner. As I’ve said before, the Forbeyon albums I offer are so incredible. The quality is among the best in the industry, and they are just so darn cool! From the brushed metal cameo on the front to the endless high grade cover options, there is just so much you can do to personalize them. I just love the idea of my clients having these to keep their memories alive for years and years to come!
Stay tuned for more album posts to come. There are endless cover options, and I’m sure I’ll have to show off some more!
Or perhaps in the case of this set of brother/sister twins, double the fun!
These were the sweetest babies. I shouldn’t be surprised by that, because their older brother is perhaps the sweetest 5-year-old I’ve ever met. But newborn sessions, under the best of circumstances, require a lot of patience. I had no idea what to expect from my first set of newborn twins, but these two didn’t give me any trouble at all. And I was totally blown away by how much they loved being close to each other. The minute we put them together, they snuggled in and completely relaxed. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to go through life with a twin. For these two little angels, I bet it will be very special indeed.
*Especially* the two in my life. In a world where really good fathers aren’t always easy to find, I consider myself truly blessed. I not only have a wonderfully devoted and loving father of my own, but I married a pretty great guy who is the world’s best daddy to our two little ones. Maxwell absolutely worships the ground his daddy walks on, and for good reason. Happy Father’s Day to two of the greatest dads I know. I love you both!
And yes, I’m actually posting a picture of myself on the blog. That’s a first, I think!
