A boot-scootin’ birthday

Miss. C is five, and boy did she and her friends have fun celebrating Texas style at the McKinney, Texas Storybook Ranch! There was bouncing, sliding, horseback riding, a pinata, delicious cake, and my personal favorite, the Pettin’ Zoo. Just be careful, though, if you are lucky enough to visit this particular Pettin’ Zoo, not to wear your camera bag around the goats. They can get slightly aggressive when they mistakenly take it for a feed sack!

Happy 5th birthday Miss. C! Thank you for trusting me to capture your special celebration!

Classic.

Classic beauty, classic monogrammed dresses and the perfect classic setting…I just love the feel we got from our session on Saturday. And only in Texas can you wear sleeveless dresses and go barefoot in February! What a welcomed relief from all the snow and ice we’ve had this month. So glad I was able to spend some of the beautiful weather we had over the weekend with these sweet sisters, who clearly love each other dearly.

Double Ooh La La!

Before all the holiday craziness hit, my son and I were guests at the most fabulous Fancy Nancy birthday party. He loves an excuse to wear his bow tie (really, he does!), so I knew this party would be a huge hit. And it certainly did not disappoint. Mom thought of every last fancy detail.

It really was a fabulous soiree, complete with a fantastic art project (which is so near and dear to my heart since art is not always top on my energetic boy’s list!), yummy cupcakes, very special friends, all in the most lovely and quaint art studio. And the top hat, well…let’s just say we wore that thing out!

Miss. E, we hope you had as much fun at your 5th birthday party as we did! We loved dressing up and being fancy with you!!

Did I really miss this?!?

Not too long ago, I posted some pictures from my session with these two adorable sisters and their baby brother HERE. I was preparing their CD this past week and came across the picture below. I had to check twice to make sure that I really had not edited it! What a perfect display of their sweet bond as sisters. Well, needless to say, it made it’s way onto their CD, and I loved it so much that it was included in my Top 10 of 2010 Contest. Don’t forget that voting ends tomorrow night at midnight. It’s so close right now; I, for one, can’t wait to see who wins!

Top 10 of 2010

What a fantastic year 2010 was for me! I am truly thankful to all of my wonderful clients who trusted me to capture what is special about each of you. And to officially show my gratitude, let’s finish the first month of 2011 off with a contest and some prizes! It was very hard to do, but I have picked the “Top Ten” images from 2010, and now you get to vote for your favorite. The image that receives the most votes by midnight on January 31, 2011 will receive an 11×14 wall portrait of the winning image and a complimentary session with Lauren to be used any time in 2011! And my favorites certainly weren’t limited to these ten. Don’t miss the slideshow at the end of this post showing all my favorites from throughout the year. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Now, for the fine print and voting…

~ Contest will run through Januay 31, 2010 at midnight CST.
~ No multiple voting. Only one vote per IP address will be counted.
~ No substitutions.
~ No purchase necessary to win.

Happy Voting!

I . Love . Newborns.

Newborns are among my very favorite to photograph, and this sweet little guy was no exception. His mom responded to my Dallas Newborn Model Search (there are two spots left!), and I am so glad that she did. I had such a great time getting to know you J Family and discovering our random connections — it’s such a small world, isn’t it?!? And it goes without saying that your new little man couldn’t be any sweeter or cuter! Congratulations on his arrival!

And just look at how sweet his big sister is with him. I think he was most content in her arms, and I can understand why. She was incredibly gentle and patient with him. What a fantastic big sister you have Baby O. You two will be great friends, I’m sure.

Cards, cards, cards!

I absolutely LOVE Christmas cards. I love getting them in the mail, designing them, and I even love addressing mine and getting them out the door. And this year, it was even more exciting to open the mail and receive cards that I had put together for some of my friends. A special thanks to all of the families who helped me build my portfolio this fall — I feel so honored to have been a part of your lives. So here is a little slideshow with my cards from 2010 — just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share them all with you!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Christmas Fun!

If you live in Dallas but haven’t yet made it downtown to see the Neiman Marcus Christmas decorations this year, go before it’s too late! We went this past weekend and had the best time. I swear for a minute I felt like I was in New York City. Well….maybe they’re not that good, but still so much fun and a whole lot closer! This year, in addition to the usual glitz and glamour, they have designed kid-sized space-themed tunnels that span about half a city block that children can climb through like a maze. Some serious Christmas fun — we could have stayed there all day! And just look at this patient, kind and oh so authentic Santa — fabulous!
